DIG Buffalo

This project accommodates lectures , a cafe, and “pop-up” office space for entrepreneurial startups sponsored by a the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. It brings together our interest in performance installation and our previous experience with workplace design. Visual transparency coupled with different ways to work and encourage collaboration creates a vibrant environment of activity and inventiveness. There are individual modules, collective modules, and communal work and presentation spaces. The private individual volumes will be constructed from translucent panels to eliminate visual distraction for those working on focused tasks. The collective modules are constructed by connecting two frames with elastic linear elements. The public can access the space and participate in exchanges with the DIG community through lectures and workshops. Space for this is defined by a theatrical curtain that controls sound an defines space temporarily.
The project was executed with the assistance of building architects Trautman Assos.
